WILDERNESS Beaver 23
"Y-Knot"
2 Berth
Built in 1982 as a bespoke special for television actor Glyn Edwards (of “Minder” fame) , this 2 berth deluxe spec. boat is now, reluctantly, available for sale after 23 years in the same ownership.
The present owners have used and much enjoyed it over the years, maintaining it to a good standard and progressively upgrading, including fitting a new top-of-the-range Honda electric-start engine in 2016 and purchasing a new high-spec 4-wheel trailer to extend their exploration of waterways all around the UK.

The stern end of the 15ft cabin comprises, on one side, a spacious dedicated shower compartment c/w a good quality fold-away wash basin (with integral hot & cold water supply), and, on the other, a large enclosed toilet, the door of which opens out across the corridor to provide a complete, spacious en-suite. Forward of this “bathroom” area is a pair of full-height storage cupboards, fronted with varnished hardwood louvre doors, providing extensive multiple storage shelves for clothing and other equipment.

The forward saloon provides extensive upholstered seating either side of a central dining table; at night the table is removable, enabling either a double berth across or 2 long singles. All upholstery, foams and fabric, have been replaced over the years and are in good condition ; the cushion coverings are in a hard wearing mottled dark beige, ribbed material. Likewise, the lined, recently fitted, 100% cotton curtains are substantial, well-made and in good condition .
There is a high level stereo radio/CD player mounted in the galley with good quality Kenwood speakers in the forward saloon.

The central, well-equipped galley, contains , on the starboard side, a Cramer beige enamel 4 burner hob and grill, a matching sink & drainer and a separate Flavel Vanessa oven below the grill together cupboards for storage of food and cooking equipment. There is a Paloma instantaneous gas-fired water heater, in good working order , mounted on the bulkhead above the cooker supplying sink, shower and washbasin. Opposite, on the portside, is a modern 48L. Shoreline electric fridge below an unusually long work-top, together with extensive storage ; there are also high level storage shelves above , in-all, this provides a good-sized, and better than many, food preparation area.

There is a good level of safety equipment aboard comprising fire extinguishers, cooker fire blanket, a floor-mounted gas alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm. Cabin lighting is from stylish and well placed low energy LED units. There are numerous 12V jack sockets in the saloon and a television TV signal booster above the port galley work top for connecting to an external roof mounted aerial. The whole interior is very tidily wired and benefits from having two separate fuse boxes, one for each side .

The deckhead (cabin roof) has been relined in by ourselves in 2012 with a fawn cord carpet which is very clean and which adds to the roof’s insulation . The cabin side linings are clean and well insulated, as are the hull sides adjoining the sleeping areas. The cabin benefits from having an internal headroom of 6ft 1in . which together with large well-positioned windows, makes for a bright, spacious interior . Space heating is from a small gas-fired catalytic heater mounted at floor level in the galley but this could easily be up-graded for deep-winter cruising if required .

Externally the craft is in remarkable condition for its age and all fittings including two very useful centre rope rings, (one each side), are well maintained. External surfaces are painted and close to the colour scheme at original build ; paintwork is adhering well.
